Sliders are a big part of a lot of our themes at WPZOOM, and when for some reason, they stop working, it’s very frustrating. This documentation is designed to help you get your site back and running again as quickly as possible by identifying some of the most common reasons why sliders stop working.
If you load up your site and find your slider isn’t working as it should, then check through each of these common problems; it’s highly likely one of these will be causing your slider to not work.
Is your WordPress theme not working how you want it? WPZOOM themes rarely experience slider issues. Switch to a WordPress theme that works.
Sliders often require a little bit of setup in the theme options page, and what you need to do to get your slider running varies theme-to-theme. For details of what you need to do to get the slider working with your theme, see your theme’s documentation.
For your slider to work, it’s going to need something to display! Some of our themes feature specific posts, and you can mark those posts as “featured” by ticking a box when you’re publishing your post, and others will display unique content on the slider which needs to be entered as a custom post type.
You can find out which your theme uses and how to add content to your slider by, as with the theme options setup, checking your theme’s documentation.
We publish updates to our themes to introduce new features, ensure they remain secure and ensure they work with the latest version of WordPress. It’s important, then, that you make sure your theme stays up to date with the latest version to ensure everything in your theme — including your slider — continues to run smoothly.

This is one of the most regular causes of sliders not working: conflicts with another active plugin. Sadly it’s inevitable that some third party plugins aren’t compatible with our themes, and if your slider isn’t working you’re going to need to check your plugins aren’t conflicting.
To check for plugin conflicts with your slider, you need to go through your plugins and disable them one by one, refreshing your homepage each time, until you find the plugin causing the slider to break.
You’re then going to need to either find an alternative plugin or contact the plugin developer and ask for their assistance in getting the plugin to work. Because of the sheer number of WordPress plugins, unfortunately we’re not able to provide support for third party plugins.
